.edu and .gov domains

its well known that .gov and .edu links can be a massive help in SEO but have you ever seen the results of how it can help ?

I don't think so, because we're not allowed to register such domain names unless you're a government organization for .gov or registered school for .edu
If we're not allowed to register those domain names, how does it help in SEO ?!

I don't think River was referring to registering an .edu or .gov domain, but rather to linking to such domain and if this will help your site rank better in SERPs

I won't do that..if I'd try, I'd probably be rejected for sure or reported as spam lol! But maybe it benefits somehow, don't know...

I think it would help you if you do have a marketing website, a big one.. But must be registered as a company in the government then they may approve the request, 50% they would!

These sites do help because they are know respected authority sites guys, you can get links from them but its hard to find good ones that accept links, i was just wondering weather anyone had experienced any increase in serps through these links

yes ,i am guite agree with that.
once you want to register .gov u should be a government organization.

I do agree that .gov and .edu websites are guite helpfull as they have good traffic. specially for the .edu websites.

But as expert says above that its difficult to register such domains without government approval. how this would be possible.

I came across one university to register one domain for them but it was not available and lot of documents has to submit.

but this will help in long run.

Also, i don't want the .gov and .edu becomes easy to register, as its very specific.

I believe you agree with me.
