Whats new in SEO?

For a few years now it seems that the SEO process is the same,Link Building, Article Submission etc etc.
But with the algo's changing as they do is there anything new to do?

To be honest i made a simmilar question on another forum... results:

NOTHING NEW!!!, methods gaining more backlins changed, but the target is always the same dude...more backlinks so at this point SEO is static...

I don't think there is new SEO techniques at the moment, but there is new strategies to improve some SEO techniques..

What can be new! I mean it's all about content and links in SEO. Isn't?

But yeah! we have seen many thing like dofollow and nofollow; paid links harmfulness etc..

Googles new algo has de valued backlinks and made content more of a factor so a friend of my tells me, he's been in SEO since the beginning so he knows what he's talking about. Apart from that the same techniques are the same.
