Switch off on Weekend/Sunday

If you run a forum or a blog, do you take a break from it all on any particular days such as the weekends or maybe Sunday? or are you working all day everyday on your site?

I don't really "take breaks" from my blogs or forums, because I manage my time wisely enough to never have to. I'll check them every day just in case something has gone horribly wrong, like a server downtime or if someone indulged in some vandalism. All in all, it takes less than ten minutes, which doesn't bother me. When it comes to content creation, I have a schedule set for that, too, and at this point I'm comfortable with the routine. I have plenty of time to relax and to work, so I have no issues with wanting to take a break.

I don't have a forum, but it is something that I'm considering. I would never take a weekend off, because that is going to be the busiest time of the week in any forum.

On one new forum I recently joined, a lot of spam posts appeared in all the subforums overnight during the weekend. I reported these but no action was taken until the following Monday. Anyone visiting the forum for the first time at the weekend would just have seen the spam and would not have wanted to register at that forum.

As a content writer I do write or research most days, and I do have time to go. Even at weekends I always start early in the morning so I get a few things done before I go out. If I need a break I prefer taking time off on a Thursday or a Friday, so I can get more done at the weekend.

If or when I have my own forum I shall be there seven days a week. Some days I might only spend a few minutes checking that all is well, but will probably do that more than once a day.

I don't really take breaks because its not like I have to spend 8 hours a day on my sites I post new articles when I feel like it, or when I have a good idea for a new article. I publish 4~5 articles across my blogs in a week, sometims more but never less because I have to entertain my audience But this kind of job can't really make me tired because its more of a hobby to me than actual work. Good thing I get paid to do it

Once a site is live, I spend maybe an hour or so per week on it. I tend to bulk upload articles, so that I don't have to babysit the site. The majority of my time is spent upgrading plugins, switching out ads, and making backups. I rarely touch my sites on the weekends. Who wants to work on their days off? I barely want to work during the week

It is essential to still check one's forums during weekends because there might be spam or inappropriate posts all over the site that would make new members be driven away or lose interest.
It does not even have to be a very long time, one just needs to manage the time he or she has and just check for those kinds of things as well as the other content being posted into the forum.

Unless your blog or forum is capable of running itself with little to no maintenance, then i would suggest that you not take a break. In some forums, your absence can be very easily noticeable and some of the senior/ regular members would notice your absence. If it goes on for a while, they might interpret it to mean that you are not serious. But there are usually quiet days during the week, say Tuesdays and Mondays. You can take a break then if need be, but you can pop in for a minuet or two just to make sure everything is OK.

I run my forum 17 hours a day, 7 days a week. I only take a break to sleep, or school. I Never take days off.

I'm just about to embark on possibly owning my first forum, but I envision myself not taking breaks on weekends. I think more people would be active on weekends, and it would be too fun to pass up being there. Not to mention that more people and more activity probably means more deviants wanting to cause a ruckus, so if anything, I'd be more active on weekends.

I have a variable work load, and so sometimes I may have 2 to 3 days without any work, which I enjoy with my family and fiends, and other times I may get so much work that I do not get away from the PC almost the whole day, i.e. about 10-12 hours at a stretch. This is going on for over 3-4 years now. But when I sit at the PC, I make a point to keep me moving in and out of my home-office for a few moments at least, every now and then.

I run a blog and I take breaks from it.

My schedule on updating the blog is on weekdays, and I try to write an entry at least one per day. It helps to keep the ranking on the same place, and sometimes higher, if information posted on it stays current. I go online on weekends just to check on it, because it never hurts to spare 10-15 minutes to make sure that there is nothing wrong with the blog. I do not spend longer on checking it because I always keep my weekends free to have a balanced work and social life.

In a sense I don't really take breaks, because I update my blogs whenever there's an open time in my schedule. However, my friend ALWAYS take the weekends off, not to stop blogging, but to update his website with whatever ideas he could think of throughout the week. Moreover, he tends to clean up his forums every weekend as well.

I definitely take breaks, but I usually don't take a lot of days off. I am more active on my blog during the week, but there are also some weekends when I don't have a lot planned where I spend a lot of time on my blog. If I take a day off, it is usually a Sunday, I tend to not do much on Sundays.

I try not to take a break, but sometimes I have no choice. I don't work on my site all day long so even if I set aside a day for a break, I still log on to see what's happening.

I work on my blogs 7 days a week. Sometimes I update a bit less on the weekends, but I am never absent. I think it's important to maintain a daily schedule so that readers can expect that every day of the week that they visit there will be new content. I believe the frequent updates are also important for SEO and ranking purposes. I find that it helps me to get the posts indexed more quickly in the search engines, especially Google.

I don't own a forum, but I have been a moderator at a couple of forums in the past and I would spend time there during the week as well as the weekends.

For my personal sites, the weekends is typically when I do give them any attention. For work related sites, I don't touch them over the weekend. I need a break from them otherwise I get really bad cases of creative block, and every little thing I do starts taking forever.
