3ds gmax help- skeletons and rigging?

    How do I get the skeleton and rig it, I need step by step directions please- because I am very new to the program.

    There's more than one way to skin a cat (in 3D animation, that is), and even more ways to rig a skeleton.
    A very basic rig usually use inverse kinematic chains for the legs and sometimes for the arms too, and target control for the head.
    Other features that are added as needed:
    FK/IK switch for the arms and sometimes for the legs too.
    Rig that handles the spine bends/twists.
    Controllers that handle individual fingers and lower-arms twist.
    Controllers for the foot that controls the heel/ball relation.
