.edu, .gov doamins?

    Any idea, how .edu, .gov doamins are registered?

    You cant register .edu domains unless you are a registered school or collage and i believe .gov's you have to be a government organisation

    However you registered them, the govenment doesn't allow them unless you are a verified school for .edu (Education) and a government organisation for .gov (Government)

    how come there arnt hundreds of domain things? like .cpu or something, so there isnt a shortage of domains?

    They aren't standard domain names, special ones.. I think there is a special autorization from ICANN to register such a domain.
