I am talking about driving a cab in New York City. $1000 a week? $2000 a week? Let's say 60 hours a week. I'm trying to figure out why 90% of NYC cab drivers are fairly recent immigrants who often have trouble speaking English. There are a few well educated US born drivers from the suburbs. But very few. Is it the money? Status? Danger? I have a hack license and drove a cab briefly in New York. Very briefly. I think the average pay for driving 50 hours a week is around 500 dollars.
