Our band has already done a concert at our local church. Gratefully because it is our church they didn't charge us a single penny. We took a love offering to donate for a missions trip. Now everything worked out fine but I have two questions. We want more than people from our church coming so we're thinking of giving posters/flyers to other churches. Do you think this is okay, and do you think a few people will come from this or are we just wasting our time. Also we're wanting to make some money so we can expand, maybe record a small demo cd, play in different venues. Definetly not for profit but I feel kind of guilty. My church is letting us use the church for free but then us taking the love offering. Can anyone give me some advice about this. Maybe should I split 50/50 or something thanks. thanks for all the answers but I think most people have misunderstood. We are not part of a the music ministry we are an independant christian rock band like starfield, switchfoot, third day, etc. It's just that our church has been gracious and let us use the place for free. We have played for free many times before, or for charity but now we want to move on. We've got a few sons written and stuff so it'll still be a free concert just with a love offering so people can choose to give or not.
