over the last 5 - 6 years ive had quite a few email addresses, ones from my ISP and ones from my websites. Last week i canceled all my email addresses from my ISP's as i have no need for them anymore, since doing that ive had not one spam mail, i never thought of it before but i was getting over 1000 spam mails a week, and they were all coming from my ISP's mail.

has anyone else noticed anything like that ?

I recieve lots of spam and lots from directory owners.

I am planning of setting up a temporary email such as submissions@domain.com which I can then delete at a later stage if it gets too busy and full with spam

Not entirely certain where it was coming from but a majority of the spam I used to receive before changing my email address was Viagra and Paypal fraud related.

I often wonder if a bulk (not all) of the free directories that are created these days are simply created for gathering users email addresses and then spamming them with their crap.

before being a webmaster, so about a year ago i never really got any spam, so i think its from signing up to loads of programmes etc, that i get dumped on all sorts of mailing lists, generally now though i use an alternative email so all the spam goes over there
